What is going on with Kolping USA are we not going to move ahead. I remember a poem told to me by Uncle John Voss when he started in Kolping it went like this

We have tomorrow
Bright before us
Like a flame.

Yesterday
A night-gone thin
A sun-down name.

And dawn-today
Broad arch above
The road we came.

We march
Americans together!

We march!

These were the words of Langston Hughes. The meaning of these words must now be ours here in Kolping. As we get older the youthful dreams become the dreams of the past and not that of the future. Are we going to change the future of the world with only looking back or what. We must first have dreams to move foward. What did Fr. Kolping teach us today. I leave you with one more Poem from Langston Hughes

Hold fast to dreams-
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-wing bird
That cannot fly.

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

As the convention to Ohio nears let us not forget the dreams of our Founder die with this generation. The difference between the founding Fathers of the USA was the stood for for all of us. They were Statesman not just Politician after re-election doing what is safe. They took chances and boldly looked to the future.
